I bought this cooktop 8 years ago and it worked brilliantly until the lighter of the middle burner ( the double burner, which was why I bought it) needed replacement after a few years. Company warranty had expired and we were on a PSEG worry free plan. To my surprise they refused to touch the appliance and even removed it from the plan saying the the screw which holds the middle burner in place had melted into the main unit and I had to contact Kitchen Aid directly! ( This is how they can replace the lighter apparently). I then contactedKitchen Aid and after having explained the manufacturing defect of the model every clearly, they still made me enroll for their own protection plan saying that was the only way to fix the issue. To my utter disappointment, when I was contacted by their technician regarding the issue, he point blank refused to even come! sighting the same concern that melted screws cant be touched! So there I was, exhausted and frustrated on the phone under 24 hrs of enrolling into the protection plan, trying to explain to the Kitchen Aid customer service that this plan was useless for me and had a hard time to opt out and recover enrollment my money. Here I am after all these years stuck with an irreplaceable lighter (burner is just good but unable to use it as its electronically set and dose not light up with a match). Very disappointed with Kitchen Aid for lack of product evaluation and ownership of manufacturing issues, customer care and very poor technical support.

I bought this new at Lowe’s and of course there was no way to “ try it out “. The burners, all 5, do not go to a low flame. The lowest is too high and continually boils the pot/ food being prepared. Already had one warranty response for an unrelated issue and the tech said the burners are factory set and no way to lower.

We've long wanted to get a gas stove top. We are adjusting to gas from an electric smooth top. Sometimes the flame doesn't come up but we've learned to turn the dial more slowly. It would be more helpful to know where HI, Med & Low settings are--wish the dials had these indicators on them. Cleans up nicely from splatters.
