The downdraft pulls the gas flame to one side preventing the flame from reaching the underside of the cooking utensil. We are cooking without the fan and turning the fan on after we are done.

I bought this cooktop for a total kitchen renovation. I had limited space for the cooktop but opted for the 30” with downdraft. It’s perfect and is a great addition to the kitchen. Can’t go wrong with Jenn-Air. I’ve had one previously and since then moved. So happy to have it back. The look is sleek, but industrial for that up to date look for your kitchen. Very happy with this purchase!

Very sturdy and easy-to-use stove. Easy to wipe down and the burners are powerful and easy to regulate. That said, the downdraft is very strong and when it is on, it pulls a significant portion of the heat away from the burners into the downdraft.

30" Downward Draft

I purchased this after the previous Jenn-Air 30" downward draft cooktop stopped working. The igniters were no sparking intense enough to light the gas. I went to replace the igniters and found out that all the screws are fused and rusted. I got the heads off all the screws but the shaft remained. In trying to get the regulators off, three came off after a lot of gentle prying. The last one was fused in badly and eventually I ended up shattering the glass top. The replacement unit has two flaws the fan sucks the flame and you don't get the flame intensity you need and the downward draft unit is extremely loud. There are very few choices for 30" downward draft and unfortunately, I cannot modify my current kitchen to accommodate a larger unit or maybe even a rear fan unit such as a Wolf system.

Just had my new cooktop installed a few weeks ago. All is working well, except front right burner igniter continues to spark even after burner is lit. Will monitor and call for service if needed.
